Join us for Strengthening Families Month 2025 to raise awareness of child abuse.
By focusing on what we can do to strengthen families with kids of all ages, we can make a difference in our community.
Top Tips to Strengthen Families
01
Family Time
Shared activities help families bond over typical interests. Cooking and eating dinner together makes a difference! Limit your personal screen time to when your children are not around. This makes your children feel loved and seen.
02
Model Nurturing
Allow space for emotions, snuggle, practice active listening. Hugs are always important!
03
Talk About Emotions
Create an emoji feelings chart to identify feelings, draw pictures and make “feelings” masks, ask them how they are feeling and listen, reassure them that they are loved.
04
Celebrate Them
Praise your children verbally, acknowledge their interests and what makes them different, celebrate the uniqueness of their identity.
05
Help Manage Emotions
Practice and model coping strategies or do breathing exercises, give them time to reflect, create a safe space for expression and to talk, seek outside help if needed.
06
Be Present
Give your children constructive outlets for stress and anxiety. Simple acts like playing with children, listening to them, and showing affection can build resilience.
You are the most important person in your child’s life.
